Challenge

Evolving Solutions wanted to offer a solution to its customers that enabled small and medium-sized businesses to use technology to achieve business growth, innovation, and success.

Before the launching of OfficeGateway (www.officegateway.ca), such sophisticated tools were only available to large enterprises with large IT budgets and a dedicated IT team. OfficeGateway was presented with the challenge to make these enterprise-style technologies affordable and available to companies ranging from 1 person start ups to an organization of 100 people or more.

Resolution

OfficeGateway developed a hosted solution that is user-friendly and affordable.  The integrated suite of portlets gives new and growing businesses essential tools to collaborate, communicate, and manage information anytime and from any Internet connection.

Evolving Solutions selected Liferay Enterprise Portal as the framework application for OfficeGateway. Liferay's framework provided the ability to create a Hosted "On Demand" Portal solution, which is comprised of a set of pre-built portlets developed by Liferay, along with customized portlets developed by Evolving Solutions and integrated with Liferay.

By leveraging Liferay's capabilities and pre-built portlets, Evolving Solutions was able to get OfficeGateway to market faster. Pre-built portlets include:
